The 2008 Beautifications Awards’ celebrating the best work in the Monterey Bay Area by local members of the California Landscape Contractors Association was held at Chaminade this past July. Landscapers from Saratoga to Carmel, and all points in between, competed with each other for awards in over 20 categories. The Sweepstakes Award, or best in all categories, went to Blue Spruce Landscapes (from Campbell) for their work on a home in Pebble Beach. The Sweepstakes for Maintenance went to Property Services Landscape Maintenance of Carmel Valley. More than 120 people came to Chaminade in Santa Cruz to witness the exemplary work of the finest landscapers along the Central Coast. Lighting was anew category this year and therewere an unprecedented number of xeriscape or low water use entries this year.
The projects highlighted here include two Water Feature categories by Coastal Evergreen Landscapes in Scotts Valley and Prime Landscapes of Soquel. Christensen Landscape of Santa Cruz won the Judges Awardfor their landscape project pictured here.  Also pictured are the Sweepstakes Maintenance Award by Property Services Garden Maintenance of Carmel Valley and Lighting Installation by Terra Bella Landscaping of Santa Cruz. These projects show the amazing talents of our local landscape contractors and give you an idea of the breadth of abilities that landscapers in general have.

The California Landscape Contractors Association promotes professionalism and quality from the first phone call to the final hand shake. If you would like to find a landscape contractor to work with you go to the state CLCA web site and look for a contractor in your area with the specialties you are looking for. Landscapers do much more than plant and irrigate and events like the Beautification Awards really highlight that fact. To contact a landscaper to help you and your project go to www.clca.org.

California is in the midst of a water crisis. The California Landscape Contractors' Association is committed to promoting and practicing water-saving measures and certifying landscape contractors who specialize in water management. For more information visit the CLCA website at www.clca.org
